cold, cold weather from Mt.Hermon

Heavy snow fell in the Hermon on Thursday morning. The tourist site was temporarily closed to visitors.
Snowfall at the site is expected to continue for at least three days.
Forecasters predict that strong winter weather will hit the rest of the country as well. Rain, strong winds, and low temperatures are expected from the Golan to the northern Negev.
Experts warned that heavy rain could lead to flash floods in the Jordan Valley and the Judean desert.
On Friday, scattered thunderstorms are predicted across the country. Strong winds in southern Israel could lead to sand storms.
By Friday evening, snowfall is expected to spread from the Hermon into northern Israel. Snow may fall in Jerusalem beginning Saturday.
Winter rainstorms have succeeded in bringing the Kinneret, Israel’s largest water source, above the lowest “red line” below which it is considered risky to continue drawing water. The lake’s surface is now 212.83 meters below sea level, still significantly under the highest “red line” at 208.8 meters below sea level.
