Ima Tiri

Singer Amir Benayoun has a new song, “Ima Tiri” (“Mother, look”), about the return to Hevron. Among those who heard it was 85-year-old Shlomo Slonim, whose mother, father and brother were slain in the massacre.
Shlomo, who was a one-year-old baby at the time, survived with serious injuries that affect his life to this day.
When he heard the song, Slonim decided he wanted to meet the men who wrote it. Benayoun and co-writer Moshe Klughept were happy to oblige.
The men met Friday morning in Slonim’s home in Raanana. The home provides silent testimony to Slonim’s personal story: the walls hold pictures of the family that died when he was a baby, and research on the massacre sits on his bookshelves.

Ma'arat HaMacpela

Shabbat Chayei Sarah is a special time in Ma'arat HaMachpela. On this Sabbath the story of the acquisition of the Ma'ara is read in the Torah, and in the Ma'ara that story takes on eternal meaning. That weekend, thousands come to Hebron from all over Israel and from the Diaspora as well. Together, all merit a unique experience of connecting to Abraham’s acquisition of the Ma'ara. The guests are accommodated everywhere, in homes, guest houses, schools, tents, or even in sleeping bags…Whoever is willing to compromise a bit on his conditions as a guest is guaranteed a special experience.

About Erez Levanon...

Lev U'Mayan (Or BaLev CD). An Erez Levanon song.
Erez Levanon, of saintly and blessed memory, his yahrtzeit 7 Adar. Erez was a gentle and unblemished tzaddik that loved his G.d, his rebbe, his people, and his homeland. The voice and music is his, and the photos are of our gorgeous and hallowed Land of Israel. Erez, cherished brother and true tzaddik, we miss you so badly.
Rav Lazer Brody

Erez HY"D , a resident of the Bat Ayin settlement, was murdered in 2007 in a valley near the arab village of Beit Omar , north of Hebron.
Erez, a 42 year-old father of three was stabbed to death not far from his vehicle.
He kept a routine schedule of Torah studies, and spent one hour each day at a secluded location communing with G.d. His friend, Rabbi Michi Yossefi, said that he was apparently murdered while praying at his usual spot.
Sunday the 7th of Adar 5767 towards evening the soul of the sweet singer Erez Levanon z"l was taken as he was deep in prayerful meditation in the nearby forest. He had been missing since the afternoon when his body was found by friends from Bat Ayin. They had been searching for several hours. Erez Levanon Hashem yikom Damo was brutally murdered by arabs from the village of Beit Omar. He was laid to rest Monday the 8th of Adar in the cemetery of Kfar Etzion. More than 1000 people walked up the hill from the Beit Knesset in Bat Ayin and stood for more than two hours eulogizing Erez Levanon Z"l in the heaviest rain, the tears of Heaven reflecting our tears and sobs. His eleven year old son Eder, recited the mourners kaddish with a brave voice piercing everyone's hearts.
Erez was an exemplary family man, who managed to reach a wonderful balance between his work and his home… he wasn't someone who stood out but a very modest man.Y
Ruth Rafael is the secretary of the settlement of Bat Ayin, right after the murder she organized the first of all to help his family.

and a "death penalty"...

The Death Penalty. Yes death. For selling a house to a Jew...
Yet these atrocities are of little concern to the flytilla activists who are bent on Israel's destruction.

Evicted Jews sleep in the streets

Source: Arutz Sheva
Jews forced out of the Machpelah House in Hevron last week spent Passover in tents just meters away. In the meantime, the building sits empty.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak, with support from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, insisted on going ahead with last week’s eviction ahead of Passover, arguing that Jewish presence in the building was an operational threat that must be rectified immediately. The IDF, he said, could verify that Jews had a legal right to the home after forcing them to leave it.
The eviction caused discord in the government, with senior figures including Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz and Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon openly criticizing the decision.
Shlomo Levinger is one of the many Machpelah House residents who has been living in a tent in the street along with his young children since the expulsion. “We had pain in our hearts during the holiday,” he told Arutz Sheva. “But also great joy, and faith that we will return to the building next door.”
Twelve days have passed since Hevron’s Jewish community gave the IDF Civil Administration documents relating to the sale of the Machpelah House. “They still haven’t told us what the problem is,” Levinger related. “Apparently there is no problem.”

Tornadoes in Hevron

Tornadoes in Hevron

Netanyahu will have to decide between Jewish history and a Defense Minister who does not relate to it.

From David Haivri
Some Jews bought a house and moved in.
“So what?” you might ask. If it were anywhere else in the world, little notice would be taken. But in this case, the home is in Hevron, and the last owner was an Arab.
In this case, it is something covered by international media - a cause for governmental debate and military intervention. Sounds a little off the wall, doesn't it?
The truth is that even with some background details, this story would be considered outrageous had it occurred anywhere else in the world. What is the story here? Hevron is one of four cities holy to the Jewish people: Tsfat, Tiberias, Hevron and Jerusalem.
It is the site of the burial place purchased by our father Abraham, founder of our faith, where he laid to rest his wife Sarah, mother of our nation. Our two other sets of patriarchs and matriarchs - Itzchak and Rivkah, Yaakov and Leah - were also buried in the same family cave when they passed away.
Our great King David sat on the throne in Hevron for seven years before he made Jerusalem the united capital of Israel.
Throughout the ages, the Jewish community thrived in Hevron. The pious came from afar to pray at the holy tombs and to study in the city's great houses of Torah learning.
In 1929, in response to incitement by the grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the Arabs of Hevron massacred, raped and mutilated their Jewish neighbors. 77 innocent Jewish residents of Hevron died that day, at the hands of Arab neighbors with whom they had lived at peace for decades.

Barak refuses to budge on an order to expel Jews from their home in Hevron.

MK Tzippy Hotovely at Beit HaMachpela in Hebron

Defense Minister Ehud Barak refuses to budge on a 3 p.m. ultimatum to Jews to leave their newly-purchased home in Hevron or face forced expulsion. However, he has left himself a ladder if he wants to climb down from the limb by holding out the possibility for further proof that the property deed is legal.
Likud Knesset Member Tzipi Hotovely arrived at the home in Hevron Tuesday and declared, “It is clear there will be no expulsion….Jews mist continue to live here and whoever thinks differently is anti-Semitic and nothing less than that.”

Mezuzah placed on new Jewish home in Hevron

B'H"
Lawyers for the residents of Beit HaMachpelah in Hevron met Sunday with representatives of the IDF's Civil Administration and discussed the legality of the purchase of the home, which the residents moved into last Wednesday.
The IDF representatives examined the purchase documents and confirmed that the purchase is legal.
Kadima Knesset Member Otniel Schneller placed a mezuzah Sunday on the building in Hevron bought by Jews from Arabs last week.
Several Jewish families last week moved into the building, located across from the Cave of the Patriarchs, but the IDF declared the purchase a “provocation” and declared the area a closed military zone, banning visitors. MK Schneller has parliamentary immunity and was allowed to enter to place the mezuzah, which contains a parchment of the “Shema Yisroel”  verses of the Torah and is found on every Jewish home.
He told residents, “Jerusalem and Hevron are the head and the heart of the Jewish people, and retaining them is a root of our existence in the Land of Israel.”
He emphasized that existing information shows that the “House of the Patriarchs,” as the building has been dubbed, was purchased legally, and said the government must help the new Jewish owners to complete the bureaucratic process concerning their property rights.
After placing the mezuzah, MK Schneller added, “The Prime Minister has done and will do whatever is legally possible to strengthen the Jewish presence in Hevron and the Patriarchs’ Cave.”
Information Minister Yuli Edelstein of the Likud visited the home Saturday night and examined the deed of purchase. “There is no doubt that this was a legal purchase of the building sold by an Arab family,” he said.
“We must put a stop to the practice of the Palestinian Authority’s hunting down those who legally sell property to Jews,” MK Edelstein added.
The PA operates under a previous Jordanian law that allows for the execution of any Arab who sells property to Jews. Jordan occupied Hevron between the War for Independence and the 1967 Six Day War.

Settlers take up residence in Hebron house

B'H"
Several dozen settlers have taken up residence in a Hebron house overnight, claiming they purchased it from its Palestinian owner.
Sources in Hebron said that the owner of the house, which is located near the Cave of the Patriarchs, was detained for questioning by the Palestinian police.
As soon as news of the move reached the defense establishment, large IDF forces arrived as the scene to maintain the order. No unusual events were noted on the premises overnight.
The IDF declared the immediate premises a restricted military zone. Military sources told Ynet that the land in question has been at the center of an ownership dispute.
The IDF said that the move constitutes "an irresponsible move and a dangerous provocation that may inflame spirits, especially ahead of Land day."
Settlers have been buying up land and property in Hebron for several years now, with many of the purchases contested in court.
Sources familiar with Wednesday night's event told Ynet that the "operation was carried out in military fashion," adding that no one but the new tenants knew about the plan.
The settlers claim that they have all the legal documents attesting to the purchase of what has been dubbed the "Machpelah House."
Senior officers with the Judea and Samaria Spatial Brigade are currently looking into the purchase's legality.
Shlomo Levinger, one of the new owners, told Ynet: "This is very exciting. It's taken us years but we have finally been able to buy a house near the Cave of the Patriarchs.
"The police have decided not to allow anyone in until a decision on the property is made by higher-ranking officers," he added. "We were told that anyone who wants to leave may do so, but no one can go it. Naturally, we're not going anywhere."
MK Michael Ben Ari (National Union) commented on the event, saying: "It's time to reclaim all of the homes taken by the enemies in the City of the Fathers.
"The rule of law must allow for the most basic thing – to let Jews retune to the dozens of Hebron homes that belong to the Jewish community."
