Parshas
Tetzaveh is the only portion in Shemos where Moshe's name is missing.
On many occasions, the Jewish people rebelled against G-d. When G-d
threatened to destroy the Jewish people and make Moshe the father of a
new nation, Moshe said, "If you will not forgive the Jewish people,
please wipe me out of your book!"
Although G-d forgave the Jewish people, He still took Moshe's name out
of this Parsha. This shows us Moshe's self-sacrifice and Ahavas Yisroel
(love of a fellow Jew). It also teaches us that the words of the
righteous should not be taken lightly.
- When Moshe Rabbeinu was caring for his father-in-law's sheep, he ran after a little lamb that left the flock. When he finally caught up with the lamb, he saw that it was looking for tender grass to eat. Moshe Rabbeinu picked up the lamb and said, "Little lamb, if I had known that this is what you wanted, I would have brought it to you myself!" G-d heard Moshe's words and said, "If Moshe shows such concern and self-sacrifice for his flock, he surely is the right person to lead the children of Israel!".
- Self-sacrifice doesn't only mean giving up your life for
G-d. It also means giving up your own desires in order to do a mitzvah!
- Rabbi Nachman of Breslov says the way you look at a person
actually touches the soul. By viewing the person with Ahavas Yisroel,
and realizing that he also has good points, you help him change his ways
for the better!
